What is a Domain Name?

A domain name is your web address. It’s the address you type in when you want to go to a website: like google.com. It’s that simple.

Your domain name is totally unique to you and is similar to your street address – but for your website. To a computer, your domain name is the address for where it can find your website, just like how your street address tells people where to find your house.

Domain names can have up to 63 characters, including the letters A to Z, numbers 0 to 9, and hyphens.

The part to the right of the “dot”, for example .com, can now be as unique as the rest of your domain name.

Whether you use the Malaysian .com.my or a new alternative like .build, .plumbing or .club, this can help you to make your domain name as individual as you are.
